Deep Hole Drilling Process
Introduction
Deep Hole Drilling Process is a precision machining technology specially used to deepen holes (hole depth is more than 10 times the hole diameter), which is applicable to various metal materials such as steel, aluminum, titanium alloy, etc. This process is widely used in aerospace, automobile manufacturing, hydraulic systems, mold processing and energy equipment.
Advantages
1. High depth-to-diameter ratio processing capability
Deep hole drilling technology can process holes deeper than ordinary drilling (generally more than 10 times the hole diameter, or even more than 100 times), and is suitable for parts that require high-depth holes, such as long shafts, hydraulic pipes, and heat exchangers. Compared with traditional drilling, deep hole drilling can ensure uniform hole diameters and maintain stability at extreme depths, reduce hole offset, and improve product assembly accuracy and service life.
2. High precision and good consistency
Deep hole drilling uses high-precision drilling technologies such as gun drilling and BTA drilling to achieve hole diameter tolerance control of ±0.02mm or even higher. This technology ensures high coaxiality of the hole and reduces hole offset, and is particularly suitable for precision mechanical parts that require strict dimensional accuracy, such as hydraulic pistons, fuel injectors, precision shaft components, etc.
3. Excellent surface quality
Deep hole drilling can obtain a surface roughness of Ra0.4~1.6μm, reducing the need for additional finishing and improving the service life of parts. Compared with ordinary drilling, deep hole drills use a special high-pressure cooling and lubrication system, which can reduce tool wear, reduce cutting heat, improve hole wall quality, and make parts have better durability and sealing performance.
4. Efficient chip removal management
Deep hole drilling uses high-pressure coolant or a special chip removal system (such as internal chip removal of BTA drills or external chip removal of gun drills) to effectively remove chips, avoid blockage in the hole, and improve processing stability. Compared with ordinary drilling, deep hole drilling can more effectively prevent chip accumulation, reduce the aperture error caused by chip accumulation, and ensure the size consistency and surface quality of the hole during processing.
5. Applicable to a variety of materials and complex parts
Deep hole drilling technology can be applied to a variety of metal materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloy, titanium alloy, copper alloy, etc., and even difficult-to-process materials (such as high-strength alloys and heat-resistant alloys) can achieve efficient processing. In addition, this technology can be used for the processing of complex hole structures such as blind holes, cross holes, step holes, and non-circular holes to meet the precision parts needs of industries such as aerospace, automobile manufacturing, and energy equipment.
